RIGHT NOW is the “Open Enrollment” period to begin signing up for your Obamacare health insurance coverage. Understanding the enrollment process, and taking note of the limited enrollment period, is more important than ever for ensuring that you and your family have health insurance coverage next year.
It is important to understand what “Open Enrollment” is and when you can take advantage of it. Open Enrollment is a specific time period (November 15th through January 15th each year) to enroll into, make changes to, or cancel the government’s health insurance plan. You will not be able to make changes to your health insurance plan outside of the Open Enrollment period unless you have a “Qualifying Life Event” such as, marriage or having a baby, etc. You can, however, at any time, cancel your individual insurance plan that is not through employer coverage.
It is especially important to know when Open Enrollment is and decide what you want/need when it comes to your health insurance. Speaking with a qualified health insurance agent should be a top priority! You’ll need to understand the benefits of your health insurance plan, your options, and be able to get the most out of your health insurance budget.
If you want a January 1st effective date, the last day to enroll is December 15th. If you enroll after December 15th, you will have to wait till the first of the next month for your insurance to begin. All enrollments end on January 15th
During the enrollment process, you’ll provide some basic information about how many people live in your house, your household income and where you live. This will allow you to see what levels of health insurance you and your dependents qualify for, what health insurance will cost you or even if you qualify for free health insurance or a government subsidy that will minimize how much your health insurance costs.

If you DO NOT qualify or do not want a government subsidy, you can buy an ACA qualified health plan which covers pre-existing conditions, that is not tied to Nevada Health Link. We can enroll you into either plan. You’ll need to call for details.
However, you may end up paying a higher premium than someone who has not financed their vehicle. If you make payments on your vehicle, your lender requires you to have comprehensive and collision coverage on top of the state minimum requirements.
A Qualified Health Plan, or QHP, is a health insurance plan that provides coverage for the 10 essential benefits outlined in the 2010 Affordable Care Act. Qualified Health Plans MUST cover these 10 items without any lifetime or annual limits on these “Essential Health Benefits.”
Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage is used when you are hit by a driver that has insufficient coverage or no coverage at all. This optional coverage helps to compensate you for damages, up to your policy limit.

If you call after January 15th to enroll into a health insurance plan, you will be sad to find out that you missed the time frame to receive a “Subsidy” and enroll in a “Qualified Health Plan”. You’ll then need a “life event” (like getting married, having a baby, losing your insurance from your job/spouses job, divorce, moving to Nevada, etc.,) to enroll.

To determine your premium, your auto insurance company uses a complex algorithm that takes countless factors into consideration. Some of those factors are obviously related to driving, such as how many speeding tickets you’ve had and when you received your last one, the age and type of vehicle you drive, and how many insurance claims you’ve filed in the past.
Short-term health insurance is a special policy designed to provide coverage during times of transition when traditional health insurance coverage may be impractical or unavailable.
An auto insurance deductible is the amount that you pay out of pocket for damages to your vehicle before your auto insurance company covers any accident-related expenses. Different auto insurance companies offer different deductibles, which customers select when they’re signing up for an auto insurance policy.
While auto insurance can be pricey, Nevada Insurance Enrollment can help you find the right balance between great insurance coverage and an affordable auto insurance premium. Understanding the options available to you, what coverage you’re required to carry, and evaluating your exposure to risk are good first steps.
