King vs. Burwell and its Impact on Nevada

Nevada is a “Supported State-Based Exchange” meaning, that despite the ruling with King vs. Burwell, Nevadan’s will be able to keep their health insurance subsidies.

Although we in Nevada do use the Healthcare.gov website technology, Nevada is a State Exchange, not a Federally Facilitated Exchange.

Using the example that the CEO at the Silver State Exchange gave earlier this week in a meeting at the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), Mr. Bruce Gilbert stated “Think of the Healthcare.gov website as a freeway; we use the freeway the Federal Government built, but our State Exchange Police’s the freeways”.

This should protect our citizens from losing their health insurance subsidies. This would matter more to our residents that are receiving a government subsidy. If you have purchased an “Off Exchange” plan with NO subsidy (not buying through the Government “Marketplace”), this is a non-issue.
